Background:
The Union Cabinet on 20.03.2020 approved the proposal of Ministry of AYUSH to
operationalise 12,500 Health and Wellness Centre under Ayushman Bharat in a phased
manner from year 2019-20 to 2023-24. These Ayush HWCs would be operationalised
through States/ UTs in Centrally Sponsored Scheme mode and under the broad umbrella
of National Ayush Mission (NAM).

The vision is to establish a holistic wellness model to reduce the disease burden, out of
pocket expenditure and to provide informed choice to the needy public

Functional integration with existing establishment for providing comprehensive care by
using Standard protocols, up-gradation of infrastructure, community mobilization for self
care, sensitization & capacity building of health care providers, linkages with higher-
level facilities, Ayush educational institutions, reputed NGOs & Trusts and
documentation with the help of IT platform are the highlights of the activities.
