About

Tamil Nadu Siddha Medical Council, Chennai-106 The Government of India and the Central Council of Indian Medicine, New Delhi have been insisting to give statutory status to the State Council/Board for registration of Indian Medical Practitioners.

In the State of Tamil Nadu, the Tamil Nadu Board of Indian Medicine has been functioning as a Board for the registration of Indian Medical Practitioners for Siddha, Ayurveda and Unani System without any statutory status.

As per the Government of India instructions, the Government of Tamil Nadu introduced an Act “Tamil Nadu Siddha System of Medicine (Development and Registration of Practitioners) Act, 1997′, which came into effect from 29.9.1997. The Tamil Nadu Siddha Medical Council has been formed in G.O.Ms.No.70, H&FW Dept. dated 12,.2.1998. This is the statutory registration body for the registration of Siddha practitioners only. For Practicing in Tamil Nadu the registration in this Council is mandatory.

Activities:

  1. As per the State Act, 1997, the Tamil Nadu Siddha Medical Council has been given powers for processing the applications for the establishment of new medical institutions and forwarding them with th4e recommendation to Government for giving prior approval.
  2. In G.O.Ms.No.401,H&FW Dept, dated 27.8.99, the Tamil Nadu Siddha Medical Council has been empowered to conduct the examination for Diploma in Pharmacy (Siddha) and to award Diploma/Certificate.
  3. In G.O.Ms.No.142, H&FW Dept, dated 4.4.2001, the Government have approved syllabus, Curriculam and minimum standard requirement of 2 years Diploma course in siddha Phsiotherapy. The Government have also given permission to M/S.Siddam Trust, Mecode, Kanyakumari District to start the above Course.

Activities:

Tamil Nadu Board of Indian Medicine:

Tamil Nadu Board of Indian Medicine is a statutory body established by the Tamil Nadu Government in the year 1983. Registration Certificates is being issued to the students who have completed graduation from accredited and affiliated
colleges and Universities as per the Indian Medicine Central Council Act 1970. In the field of Ayurveda, Unani and the students completing their graduation in yoga and Naturopathy as per Tamil Nadu Government order and Central Government Guidelines. Students graduating from these Universities in this respective medical fields receive both Temporary and Permanent Registration in addition to ID Card.

Tamil Nadu Siddha Medical Council:

Tamil Nadu Siddha Medical Council is a statutory body which was established by the Tamil Nadu Government in the year 1997 as per the Tamil Nadu Siddha system of Medicine (Development and Registration of Practitioners Act 1997)
Medical Practitioners act and according to the Indian Medicine Central Council Act 1970 & rules and regulation. Registration certificates are issued to graduates who pass out of recognized universities in the field of siddha medical education since 1998.

This registration process takes place through online software system where the graduates and Post graduates details are uploaded against to which a Permanent and Temporary registration certificates and ID cards are being issued.
