About

Government  Yoga & Naturopathy medical college, Arinagar Anna govt hospital of indian medicine campus, arumbakkam, chennai-106 was established in the year 2000 as per the Govt. order No.137, Health and Family Welfare Department dated 30-05-2000 for conducting BNYS.

Under Graduate Programme (BNYS)

The Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences (BNYS) offered by the Government Yoga and Naturopathy Medical College in Arinagar Anna Government Hospital of Indian Medicine Campus, Arumbakkam, Chennai, is a comprehensive 5 ½-year undergraduate degree program.

It consists of 4 ½ years of rigorous full-time academic study followed by a mandatory one-year rotatory residential internship program. The medium of instruction is English, and the course is affiliated with TamilnaduDr. MGR Medical University, Guindy. With an annual intake capacity of 60 students, the eligibility criteria require candidates to have passed the 12th examination with Science subjects, securing a minimum of 50% in Biology and 50% aggregate marks in Physics and Chemistry. Additionally, candidates must be at least 17 years old as of 31st December of the current year to be eligible for entrance into this program. The BNYS course aims to provide students with a holistic understanding of naturopathy and yoga, incorporating both theoretical knowledge and practical clinical training in reputed hospitals in Chennai during the internship period.

Post Graduate Programme

The Postgraduate Department at the Government Yoga and Naturopathy Medical College is committed to developing specialists with exceptional competence and skills in the field.

The competency-based curriculum is meticulously designed, featuring well-defined competencies for each year of study, along with a specified quota of academic events and procedures. PG students have the opportunity to choose from branches such as Naturopathy, Yoga, Acupuncture, and Energy Medicine, where they receive additional training to enhance their skills. The department employs a structured portfolio system that includes reflective comments, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the learning process. Formative assessments, including workplace-based evaluations and assessments of professionalism, contribute to a robust evaluation system. Notably, each PG student is assigned an academic in-charge, responsible for overseeing the entire PG training. Quarterly reviews and reporting, coupled with regular appraisal meetings, ensure close monitoring by the Principal, addressing any issues that may arise. A hallmark of PG training is the emphasis on continuous improvement, with an annual review of competency progression at the end of each year. Regular feedback from PG students is actively sought to understand and enhance their learning environment, facilitating an effective learning process. Weekly activities, such as journal presentations, case presentations, and seminars conducted under the guidance of academic in-charges, contribute to a dynamic and engaging learning atmosphere.
